At present, due to the lack of convenient roads connecting this point with the internal parts of the theater (except for Proskurov), Kamenets-Podolsky does not have the importance that it should have due to its geographical location on the flank of the defensive line of the river. Dnistra. In view of the advanced position of Kamenets-Pod. between Romania and Austria, its proximity to the flanks of the most important defensive lines of the Austrian advanced theater and, finally, due to the convenience of setting up a fortified camp there, which could serve as a starting point for our operations: to the rear of the Galish Theater and to the flank of the operational direction Proskurov - Tarnopol - this city could It is of outstanding strategic importance for operations in the foreground of not only the region under consideration, but also the entire Southwestern Front (Plevna).
For the defense of this point, not counting the ancient fortified fortifications of the city itself, the following positions can be taken:
a) for the defense of the southern side: at metro station 7 Zhvanpa on the left bank of the river. Dniester!), near the village. Gavrilovtsy"), on the heights of the southern outskirts of the village of Khodorovtsy "); southfe s. Yanchinpa'), and Roshi's book. Khilkova').
6) for the defense of the western side: near the village. Love spell on the left bank of the river. Kizya, *), near the village. Frilrovtsy *), near the village. Lyaskovtsy *), near the village. Zavalv *).

Of the other points of secondary importance, it is necessary to note: - |
Husyatyn is the end point of the Austrian railway line, a junction of dirt tracks, and a trading point.
Yarmolintsy, Satanov, Tarnoruda, Felshtin are the junction points of dirt tracks.
5) Operational direction of the Romanians from the front Zhvanets (Khotyn) - Mogilev to Zhmerinka (to the Letichev - Vinnitsa front).
Regardless of the operation of the Romanian Army against the troops of the Odessa Military District, part of their forces, concentrating at Botushani, can go to Yamerinka for operational action or against the flank and rear of our troops concentrated at Proskurov, or possibly interrupt the railway connection between the Kchevsky and Odessa military districts along our main railway line Odessa—7Kmerinka—Kozatyn.
Having crossed the river. Dnfstr somewhere or on the front 7 Kvanenp-Mogilev (see above p. 7), the enemy for a long-range offensive could use the following routes:
d) /Kvanets Proskurov.
2) Studenica—7Kvanchik—. Lsnoy Mukarov Proskurov.
3) Art. Ushitsa—New Ushina Kapystin.
4) Kalius Letichev.

6) Mogilev - past metro station Luchinets - Brailov - Yuzvin.
7) Mogilev—Shargorodl—Vinnitsa.
Road 7Kvanets - Proskurov is a highway, all other roads are dirt roads, the average length of roads is about 90 ver.
The most important strategic points are: Kamenets-Pololsk (see above p. 30) and Mogilev (see above p. 8).
For the defense of the Mogilev railway bridge, there is a bridgehead fortified "), for the garrison with a company strength; on the upper shore) of the Dnyustra River *) - the position on that corps is so strong that it is unlikely that the enemy will dare to launch an attack on it immediately. Further on the way from Mogilev to the 7th Amerinka we can detain the enemy in position near the village of Serby ^) south of Stanislavchik 3).
Our operational directions.
Our offensive can be directed in the following directions:
d) From Proskurov to Tarnopol.
2) From Proskurova to Dubno.
3) From Starokonstantinov to Kremenets.
4) From Starokonstantinov to Proskurov.
5) From Zhmerinka (or Bar) to Kamenets-Podolsky (Khotin).
With the exception of the Starokonstantinov-Proskurov-Kamenets-Podolsyu highway, all other roads are unpaved, and the condition of their surfaces entirely depends on the weather conditions. The current (1906) state of the roads to the region is extremely unsatisfactory, and the movement of large military masses will encounter significant difficulties.
