By retreating to Berdichev, the troops occupying the Starokonstantinovskaya position can hold back the enemy’s onslaught at two successive positions near the village. Ladysh 3) and adv. Kopachk *) and then concentrate independently or together with the Proskurov detachment on the position K)zefovka - Voitovtsy ^)); This position is the latest within the region in the stripes of the operational direction under consideration.

*) The importance of this point in the region and its weak defense capability were repeatedly discussed in high-profile military spheres, in which the question of building a fortified camp was raised. Special projects were developed in detail in strategic, tactical and engineering terms by means of special reconnaissance.

The retreat from Proskurov can also be in two directions: either to / Zhmerinka according to Linsh zhel. roads or to Berdichev. In the last day of the case, our troops can resist the enemy in positions: d) on the front. With. Kapystin-Svinnoye '), 2) south of Cape Medzhibozh *), 3) on the Luvom Berei / river. Buzhka near the village With. Molomolintsy, near the village. Ignatovy, near the village. Mytkovtsy, near the village of Shrubkovo®), 4) near Star. Sinyava *) and, finally, to the position on the Yuzefovka-Voitovitsy (Yuzefapolskaya) front?).

All these positions, with the exception of Yuzefapolskaya, have the meaning of passive-arrest. The position of Yuzefovka-Voitovtsy, in its size, allows for the possibility of deploying large forces (in several corps). The center of the posishi, covered by a swampy stream, is strong; r. r. Sluch and Yuzh. The Bug provides flanks from close encirclement; coverage is possible due to the weakness of the flanks (the shelling is small, hidden approaches). This position, blocking the enemy’s shortest routes from Starokonstantinov and Proskurov to Berdichev and Kazatin, can be successfully defended only if we have significant forces.

Thus, when advancing along this direction towards Eev, the enemy can use five dirt roads, the composition of which depends on the time of year and weather conditions. The column's advance will not encounter obstacles or difficult obstacles to overcome. Volochisk, Proskurov and Starokonstantinov are important points, towards which the first efforts of the enemy will most likely be directed. The most important positions, of strategic importance, occur: at Volochisk, at Mykolaiv, at Proskurov, at Starokonstantinov and at Yuzefapol. Let's leave Volochisk with us, and then Pro"

Skurov to pass into the hands of the enemy deprived of iron. Dor., and with the loss of Starokonstantinov, the direct connection between the southern region and the northern one is interrupted.

2) Operational direction from the Tarnopol-Chortkiv front to the station.

Zhmerinka, on the Vinnitsa-Yampol front, and further or to Odessa or To crossings on the middle flow of the river. Dnpra - near Cherkassy and Kremenchug.

The conditions of the locality, the direction of the railway line and the grouping of our forces in peacetime will force the enemy, who decided to attack in this direction, to initially send the main forces of his army to Proskurov and Dalbe to 7Kmerink, and a side detachment to Mogilev-Podolsky.

This assumption follows from the following: the best routes for the movement of masses of troops pass near and along the railway. linsh, and only owning w. D. Lia Volochisk - LAmerinka, the enemy can develop his long-range operations. The direction of the side detachment to Mogilev-Podolsk will be caused by the fact that with the occupation of this point (see above p. 8) the second line of railways passes into the hands of the enemy. Ocnita-Novoseltsy roads and the river flow. Ln$stra.

In view of all these considerations, it can be counted on that the enemy will use the following routes for his movement.

r) Volochisk—Black Island—Zarchye (Proskurov)—Medzhibozh—Letichev—Litin—Vinnitsa.

2) Tarnoruda Brailov.

3) Postalovka—Felshtin (or Yarmolintsy)—Mihalpol—Bar—Bol. Zhmerinka.

4) Satavov Old Murafa.

6) Gusyatin - Nov. Upitsa—Kurilovtsy Murovany—Yaryshev—Mogilev.

The width of the front is about 75 versts, the average length of the roads is about 150 versts.

VSB these roads are dirt roads. Lvizhena from Satanov and Gusyatin to Mogilev-Podolsky, due to the frequent ascents and descents to the numerous tributaries of the Dniester and into the gullies, will be very difficult.
