River Tsarina divides the city into 2 parts, and the distant part “behind the Tsarina” is small - especially unprepossessing; tam station of the Volga-Don railway. Another station on the Gryaze-Tsaritsyn road, which serves as the trading exchange for Tsaritsyn residents, is located a few minutes away from the shipping offices. In terms of greenery, Tsaritsyn is poor; Without daily abundant watering, greenery refuses to exist in it, so the only garden in the city is located at the Gryaze-Tsaritsyn railway station, which has its own water supply. Another garden, or more correctly a garden, called “Concordia,” is located on the banks of the Tsarina River; Here, under the bushes of 15-20 stunted trees, the Tsarina’s young club huddles.

Of the ancient monuments, we note only the stick and cap of Peter the Great, stored in the Tsaritsyn City Duma. The history of these things is as follows: Peter

. os g ' Veliy in 1728, before leaving Tsaritsyn, addressed the people with a phrase characterizing the great reformer of Russia: “Here’s my stick! As I used it with my friends, dance and you defend yourself with it from the enemy.”

gov of yours. Just as no one will be able to remove this cap from my head, so no one will be able to take you out of Tsaritsyn.’ To tell the truth, this historical cap, which once covered my great head, has been severely damaged by moths, thanks to its careless storage.

In Tsaritsyn there used to be a so-called “rafting” fair, the turnover of which, rarely exceeding a quarter of a million, is not very significant for such a city. In terms of periodicals, the Volga-Donskoy Listok is published here.

Steamships traveling down the Volga stand near Tsaritsyn for quite a long time, waiting for trains from the Gryaze-Tsaritsyn railway. Therefore, the tourist has enough time to explore the Nobel town, located two miles from the steamship docks and separated from the city of Tsaritsyn by a ravine.

The Nobel town occupies a very large area. On the side facing the city, it is lined with stone walls, and on the other side it is surrounded by a ditch; its lower part is a pier, connected to the shore by strong gangways, next to which there is a steam pump, supplying 50 to 60 thousand poods of kerosene per day from ships. A few fathoms from the pier there is a warehouse from which kerosene is poured into tank cars, then sent along the rail track to the Gryaze-Tsaritsyn railway station. Filling of each car takes no more than 8 minutes and the kerosene loaded into it is precisely determined by means of a special mechanism located under the rails. A large stone building located to the left of the kerosene warehouse contains a warehouse for ships and various household supplies. Further, the tourist climbs the stairs to the middle terrace of the town, where he will see a large two-story stone house surrounded by tall poplars; In this house there are apartments for the main employees, a library for them and an office. Go further up the road and you will see well-clean houses in which the rest of the bro's servants live. Nobel; There are two gardens here - a garden and a fruit garden; the first of them with a fountain in the middle. This abundance of greenery in such a place, where it is difficult to maintain it, in a hot desert, where the soil cracks under the intense rays of the sun, proves most of all the degree of care for the people working here. These gardens near Tsaritsyn are a true paradise, and one cannot thank the owners of the town enough for their cultivation and constant maintenance of greenery in them.

To the right is a mechanical cooperage, which in the past produced up to 400 kerosene barrels daily, with a capacity of 20 pounds each; At present, thanks to the transportation of kerosene in tanks, the production of barrels has been greatly reduced and the cooperage industry can be said to be dying, since only the smallest batches of kerosene are bought with dishes.

Less than half a mile from the office, separated by a ditch and a rampart, there are iron tanks holding up to 2 million pounds of kerosene; each of them can be connected to an iron pipe starting from the steam pump. In this way, the tanks are filled very easily and quickly; In case of fire, kerosene from each tank can be released to the very bottom in no more than three minutes through underground stone pipes into a special huge reservoir. Among the area where the tanks are located, there is a lightning rod; all of it, like the warehouses, like the entire Nobel town in general, is illuminated with electricity.
