’Nina is swampy in nature, but along the IBR to the south away from Pripyat and to the east of Sluch, the area is becoming drier and drier, and swamps can only be found along the river banks. Forests have now been significantly cut down or destroyed. The soil here is mostly sandy or muddy. The roads in many places are forested and swampy, unsuitable for the movement of large detachments, but small detachments with artillery and convoys can travel almost everywhere. Rivers are a big obstacle to movement, since crossings across them are, for the most part, unreliable. During high water, fords and crossings are closed. The quartering of troops may become more difficult only in the northwestern part.. |
All this makes the northern part unsuitable for conducting significant military operations, but very convenient for conducting a small war. In general, it must be noted that at present this part of Poland has lost its character of almost impassable terrain.
The southern part, although it is a plain, is much more elevated and undulating. Low-lying areas are found only in the south-eastern corner of Kevskaya province, where they occupy a small space, limited r. Dn$fprom and lichen coming from the mouth of the river. Rosi through the lower reaches of the river. Olyshanki to metro station Sm$la, and further along the valley of the river. Tyasmina. Here is the only, isolated Irdyn swamp. The remaining swamps are insignificant, lying only in the valleys of the river. Significant forested areas lie in direct contact with Polsye. In general, they are scattered throughout the area, for the most part, in the form of small groups. Its largest strips are located in Vinnitsa, Tarashchansky and Cherkassy districts, as well as along the bank of the Ln$5pra to Cape Tripolye and from Kanev to Cherkassy; along the river bank Bug and tributaries of the Dniester, as well as near the Irdyn swamp. The soil is loam or clayey chernozem, but in places pure chernozem is also found. In dry times, the roads are quite suitable for the movement of large detachments, but in rainy times, movement will be greatly hampered by mud. Crossings on the Bolfa rivers are reliable, especially in the northern part.
Cantonment of troops is difficult! will not meet. All this makes the area quite suitable for action by large detachments of troops and only in some places it can be difficult due to the ravines that come across.
