Tiller!y school. One should not lose sight of the fact that Engineers and Miners were part of the Artillery staff at that time.

Re ge good morning." A foreigner was appointed to supervise the schoolchildren

Lieutenant Colonel von Strauss. So, we see that in the Engineering School it was great

It is diligent for the Science of Engineering to pray for them to learn more” and, in addition, to teach “Minerry” (i.e., sapper). Consequently, with the establishment of the School of Engineering, the foundation was laid for the theoretical and practical study of Field Engineering.

A special type of weapon, currently known under the name Field Engineering Troops, appeared in Russia under the name Minerz. To which exact year the founding of the miners should be attributed is a controversial issue. In our archives we meet for the first time the states and regulations of the Mineral Company in 1710, and in the Complete Collection. Zach. Ross. Imp. The states of the Mineral Company met for the first time on February 8, 1712.

No indication has been preserved of the number and composition5 of the miners before 1710. This is one of the main reasons that forced some of the founders to attribute the founding of the Mineral Company to 1712. |

I positively cannot agree with this for the following reasons:

1) We saw that the Engineering School opened its doors on August 1, 1701. There were 2 classes in this school. And since, with the opening of the school, students were accepted into both classes, then, therefore, within a year, i.e. in 1702, we could already have people who had completed the Engineering course.

2) In 1774, the State Military Collegium ordered the chancellors of the Main Artillery and Fortification to search for all the states and regulations of the Engineering Corps from the day of its foundation. From the report on this issue, dated August 31, 1774, preserved in dBlah 1), it is clear that, although no regulations or staff of the Engineering Corps were found in dBlah before 1710, the office of the main Artillery and Fortification had no doubt about its existence even then until 1710 (See Appendix 1.

3) Finally, General A. Savelyev and General ©. Laskovsky, whose works should undoubtedly be given enormous importance in the archives of the Engineering Department, date the founding of the Mineral Company to 1702?).

1) Djlo ex. Art. Exp. by Engineer. 1774, No. 3. See attached 1.

2) Historical. very good Inch. Ex. in Russia 1874, A. Savelyeva, p. 47. Mater. for ist. Eng. art. in Russia, ©. Laskovsky, p. 99. In the last days. work indicates that in the diary of the gene. Lieutenant Allarta has a detailed inventory compiled by him, on behalf of the Imp. Peter 1, about all materials and engineering work. units during the siege of Narva (1700). This inventory, by the way, indicates that during the siege there were several Miners with beads and other necessary supplies (Napa\heregkoegor 1). This serves as the best evidence that the Miners existed at that time.

And so, based on all of the above, I believe that I will not be mistaken if I say that the Miners (now called the Field Engineering Troops) received their beginning in the year 1710 people, namely, according to the opinion of General Savelyev and General Laskovsky, in 1702 \).

1702 On April 16, 1702, Manies was published calling for foreigners to Russia. In order to attract them to Russian services, they were granted the following advantages:

1) Freedom of religion is given!

2) The previously existing custom according to which foreigners were prohibited from entering Russia was abolished.

3) In order to protect them from trial according to the laws in force in Russia, a military council, a secret military council, was formed “from foreigners skilled in Otlakh,” which was entrusted with the analysis of all cases concerning foreigners. At the same time, the above-mentioned Collegiate was instructed: “to administer justice first according to the laws of God, and then according to Roman, Graeudian law and other folk customs, mercifully, bearing in mind that our royal privileges, rights and accessories will be universally accepted.”

4) Foreigners were provided with society at any time, according to their wishes, to give them resignation and free passage back abroad.

Of course, according to the thought that guided Peter T and his predecessors, foreigners, as people more educated at that time than we Russians, should have contributed rich material and a large supply of resources for the development of engineering in our troops. Unfortunately, this wonderful project was executed very poorly.
