1763 Instructions compiled by gr. Shuvalov, were, according to the clerical review, lost, and in their place new ones were compiled and, on April 1, 1763, a new staff was approved for the entire Engineering Corps with the miner and schonner companies 1). (See attached XUSH).
According to these states, it was determined that the director general of the fortifications should be the general-feldtzeichmeister and, in addition, a special general engineer was appointed; under each of them special states were established.

According to them, the following were established:
1) Engineering building. It consisted of the generals and their staff. (37 ranks), corps headquarters (14 ranks), non-commissioned staff (17 ranks), corps officers (70 people), conductors (120 people), fast clerks (80 people), masters and apprentices (85 people), teams of craftsmen (450 people), barbers (4 people), moneymen (246 people). The total number of all ranks is 1123 people.
2) Miner and moper companies. The miner company consisted of: 7 chief officers (1 captain and 2 lieutenants, a second lieutenant and an ensign) and 280 lower ranks, of which there were 250 miners themselves; (100 people | class and 150 — P class); and in the Tshoner company: 7 chief officers and 235 lower ranks, of which 200 are Schoners (50 people | class and 150 people P class). Against the states of 1757, the following titles were again added: flute maker, carpenter and mechanic.
Following the publication of the above-mentioned states, in 1763 it was ordered by Catherine II that the drummers and flute players of the Engineering Corps, together with the musicians and drummers of the regiments, should appear at 11 o'clock. morning to the palace to congratulate the Empress on the New Year, on Her birthday and Name day.
And so, we see that the number of field Engineering troops, compared to the states of 1757, decreased almost three times; the artisans, who were previously attached to the field Engineering Troops, moved to the Engineering Corps. Unfortunately, I could not find anywhere the motives that guided General Vilboa in drawing up such states. Gr. Shuvalov, apparently, tried to irritate the so-called now%, military engineers and field engineering troops, and under the general. Vilboa they again merged together. I believe that the newly drawn up states were presented for the Highest approval, without any serious motives (especially since there are none in the P. Sobr. Zak. nb), but only in order to show their zealotry.
There could be no need to reduce the size of the Field Engineer Troops; on the contrary, the composition of the army was increasing, and there was an urgent need to increase the field engineering troops of the SK.
1771. The best proof of the validity of my words can be the fact that in 1771, Quartermaster General Bour, drew the attention of the Military Colleague 1!) to the fact that we do not have special troops intended specifically for repairing roads, creating bridges along the path of the army (as in the original report it is called: “an opening for the passage of troops”), and for this purpose regimental combat ranks are appointed. In view of the fact that this presents the following inconveniences:
1) P.S. Zak. `Rus. Im., vol. KhMI, No. 13591 (p. 179).
1) the numerical strength of the regiment is decreasing, and 2) the lower ranks of the infantry regiments, as they are not trained in this art in peacetime, are completely unfamiliar with the responsibilities assigned to them in repairing roads and building bridges, therefore the Armenian, on the way of its march, very often encounters more difficulties.
To eliminate these inconveniences, the Military Collegium came in with a proposal to establish “for opening roads, covering roads and similar uses,” one Guoner battalion, consisting
On April 6, 1771, this was followed by the Highest approval. (See Appendix XX). —
The Pyuner battalion was formed from the Schoner company, which consisted of the staff of 1763. The Schöner battalion, consisting of 4 companies, was supposed, in peacetime, to be “present at the Main Military Collegium,” and in wartime, “at the Main Commander of the General Staff of the Army.” |
