20. When attacking fortresses through an unmade breach, or otherwise through a water ditch, when, by a useful method, chance forces us to make a bridge for the military people to cross, then in installing pontoons, the pontoon Officers should act with excellent speed and skill, because in pontoon navigation this is considered the most important and courageous task, and for such cases, prescribe a precise law it is impossible: since numerous circumstances can happen, for the sake of the Pontoon the Officer is instructed in this! DARK BRIDGE, in which to show his courage, and without thinking about his stomach, at night he must work diligently skillfully under the cannonballs themselves, at which time he must fire shots from the breach batteries incessantly at a small elevation, for as long as possible until the bridges are ready, without at all touching the breach foundation, so that the enemy does not feel it like that, through the ditch of work, but he and his subordinates were harmless from their cores.

Interpretations.

The above guidance in front of bridge gaps should be used in such cases when enemy defenses are knocked down, or at least m5r are rendered powerless, in places that are defending ditch, also in the case of an intolerable time for someone, when the supplies have already been brought to the end of the ditch, beyond which both preparations and longitudinal construction of pontoon bridges can be used to their advantage.

21. When chance forces a bridge to be built in places where it will be impossible to bypass the line of non-Russian cannonballs on the bridges, then artillery and shells, not only on horses, but also on people, should not be transported, but two piles should be built opposite the bridge and tightly tied to them blocks, into which the rope should be extended and both ends should be sent to your side, of which tie some ends to the limbers and twist, and fix the other side to the spiers, and placing the cannon on the bridge, walk around the spire as a worker or otherwise pull with extreme haste, making sure that the gun does not pull the other side from the bottom and does not lag behind, but walks in the middle, which can be freely transported without losing people; at the same time, it is necessary to attach one rope to the middle: 1) for pulling it back in case of need, 2) for transporting the packs of those ends back, which were tied to the shafts, so that with the help of one rope, and lowering the block ropes from the spire, the ends are returned for transporting the other the guns could have been pulled over without moving people; why, due to the lack of distance to the turn of such a long end of the rope, the sailors should immediately splice each other tightly and using the same method as described above, it may be suitable for other crossings in the form of rafts when it sees, and that the burden of being without people and alone is dangerous for pontoons; 2) the crossing of floating units from pontoons that make up the spiers will be attracted faster and more reliably through such spiers; 3) people should not be transported back to meet their needs, but they should still return along the tightrope; 4) during attacks to capture enemy shores, people standing on those links should only cause harm to the enemy by shooting with a gun and grenades, and not by working to move; in such cases, using this method is not only useful, but it is also necessary to eat; to which regulations, which are described above, the Pontoon Officers, taking into account the cases, must find ways and get used to the task itself, not necessarily fulfilling this, but also try to find the easiest means for this purpose, undoubtedly hoping for a worthy reward, as above means; In the summer, these Officers should have actual exercises in the above institutions, and in the autumn, winter and spring, teach their non-commissioned officers and corporals the theory of why, for the sake of outside St. Petersburg and Moscow, give a special apartment for the school, and in. give them to the political leaders to the Artillery School and create a special class for that science, where these Officers coming should teach theories, not only those, but also other students selected

22. After years of campaigns have passed, Pontoon Officers must use both pontoons, ropes, and so on! I put the accessories (if anything is damaged) in the sheds fairly, and especially the ropes were narrower and quite tarred and were not kept in rotten places, also the boats and boats were stained and tarred, and by spring I didn’t have to put off fixing them at all, but always have them ready for hourly readiness, above which review and the Artillery Commander; In the event of a perceived omission, both Officers and other ranks will not receive any salaries until they are corrected.
