In addition to the Mineral Company, the same Highly approved by the states of 1712, it was necessary to have, under the Artillery: engineers - 8 chief officers (4 captains, 2 lieutenants and 2 second lieutenants) and 24 conductors, and in the artillery regiments each company consisted of: 1 engineer (what rank was not indicated in the states), with salary 300 rub. per year; 5 conductors, or engineering assistants, with a salary of 48 rubles. per year to each, and 20 underground students, with a salary of 10 rubles each. per year.
Those states were supposed, under Artillery, to maintain a “Pontoon” team, consisting of 2 officers (captain and lieutenant), 2 corporals and 34 craftsmen (12 carpenters, 12 sailors, 4 ropemakers, 2 blacksmiths and 2 soldering workers).
Pontoon officers 1) received salaries on par with artillery officers, while the lower ranks received a little less, including Minera.
The Engineers and Miners, although they were attached to the Artillery and were subordinate to the General Feldzeichmeister, were directly under the command of the Chief Engineer, and the Pontoon team was at that time directly subordinate to the artillery command and had nothing in common with the Engineering Department.
According to the above-mentioned states, it was allocated annually for salaries to all ranks: Mineral Company - 1569 rubles. 60 k., Engineering 2400 rub. and pontoon—756 rub. 40 k.
1716 Regulations of Peter the Great. On March 30, 1716, Peter the Great announced the following manifesto 2):
“By the grace of God, We are Peter G, Tsar and Autocrat of All Russia, etc., etc., etc.
“Before everything is known, in what way Our Father is blessed and worthy of memory in 5 1647 a. began to use the regular army and set Bonisuey to publish the story. And so the army was established in such good order that the glorious deeds of Poland were demonstrated, and almost the entire Polish kingdom was conquered. It was also great that the Swedes waged the war; but then it was not only multiplied with the growing science, but barely left; and so I honor what followed? It’s not bad with the rare peoples, but also with the barbarians, that they can’t stand against anyone, as if they were still remembering that there is still a memory (that they decided to go to the Crimea during the Uitia, keeping silent about the start) and not only then, but also 10 times recently, as with5 the Turks at Azov, and at first sowing wars at Narv. But when the army was ordered, then when the press was ordered, with the help of Bytinyao, they carried out over some glorious and popular people.
1) Salary of Pontoon ranks per year: corporal—14 rubles. 40 kopecks, carpenter, blacksmith and solder - 12 rubles each, captain and sailor - 10 rubles each. 80 kop. 2) P.S. Zak. R.I., vol. U, No. 3006.
domz. And thus, everyone can judge that nothing else resulted from it, except from good order, for everything is worthy of a disorderly barbarian custom, and no good can be expected from it. Just for the sake of it, being in seven years of self-vision, both of us for the sake of wealth decided to establish this Military Rule, so that everyone in the rank knew their position and was obliged to their rank and did not become opiated, even if through our own labor it was collected and multiplied.
Absolutely the same in Denmark in 1716, March in 30 days.”
The Military Regulations or, otherwise, the “Regulations” of Peter the Great!), without any doubt, belongs to the most remarkable monuments of the era of the Great Transformer. Only Peter's creative activity and genius mind could create such a Charter. Despite the improvements to which the art of war has reached at the present time, the spirit and main foundations of Peter’s regulations remain unchanged for the regulations of the present time.
It consists of the following sections:
1) Military Regulations.
2) Painting the Military Article.
3) Listing of processes or litigation.
4) Listing of the exercise (Part D), preparation for the march or ceremonies (Part P) and painting of the ranks and positions of regimental ranks (Part Sh.
Since the Charter of Peter the Great clearly expresses all the requirements, spirit, discipline and responsibilities of all military personnel and branches of arms of that time, I consider it not superfluous to introduce it somewhat and set out in some detail everything that concerns the Engineering Troops.
