Izyaslav Lroslavich fled to King Boleslav of Poland, his relative. Here he united with the king and both went to Vev and Vseslav. Izyaslav was unloved by the Kevlayans and therefore they all came out against him under the leadership of Veeslav. However, later I did not rely on the stability and strength of the Kevlyans, and I did not see the possibility of holding on to the Kevsky table for a long time, and therefore, seizing an opportunity, I ran away from the campaign from near Blgorod to Polotsk, leaving the Vevlyans to their own devices. He reigned in Eev 7 m%syatsev 46).

Having dealt with the Vlevlans, Izyaslav immediately set out to presiding over his gate, the Prince of Polotsk. He expelled him from Polotsk and whipped his son Mstislav there. The last one soon died there and in his place was another Izyaslavich—Ovyatopolk “”). The expelled Vseslav Bryachislavich went north to the Finnish Vodi tribe. Here he gathered an army and again began his attacks on Novgorod. In the same year 1069, he attacked the Novgorodians, but under the leadership of his prince Glfb Svyatoslavich, they defeated him at Gzen 48) near Novgorod, took him to prison, but then released him.

However, the brave Vseslav did not think despondent. He again gathered an army and in 1071 attacked Polotsk and drove Svyatopolk out of there. Then Izyaslav sent his other son Yaropolk to help the latter, who defeated Polotsk in the Battle of Golotichesk No.): Despite this, Polotsy remained with Vseslav, after many stubborn and unhappy struggles.

All the time Princess Svyatoslav was in Vlev, Vseslav sat quietly. But as soon as Svyatoslav died (1076), continuous wars began again between Vseslav and the YV1evsky princes. First of all, Novgorod was attacked, where Prince Glb, to whom Vladimir Monomakh went to help. In revenge for this raid, Vladimir launched two campaigns against Polotsk, one with his father Vsevolod, and in the winter with Svyatopolk, who was then already a prince in Novgorod. During this campaign, the princes burned the outskirts of the city itself, and in addition, Vladimir and the Polovtsians ravaged the entire country as far as Odrek °°). |

Vseslav, at the first opportunity, in turn attacked Smolensk, the ruler of Monomakh, taking advantage of the latter’s absence. Having received news of the attack in Chernihiv, Vladimir immediately rode with his squad to Smolensk, but did not find Veeslav there. Then he headed to the Polotsk land and burned the cities: Lukoml, Logoisk near Drutsk 5).

But Vseslav, obviously, did not leave this without revenge. At least next year, Vladimir was forced to go to the Polotsk region again. He gathered a huge army from Polovtsy, Chernigovtsev and Chitfevtsev and headed towards Minsk. They took the city and treated it extremely cruelly: they left neither servants (slaves) nor livestock, they plundered everything and burned 5°).

It seems that this campaign ended the struggle between Vseslav Bryachislavich and the Yaroslavichs. At least Mr Letonisi don’t mention anything. However, the famous sorcerer is already too much

old and probably completely calmed down at the end of his stormy life. He died in 1101, having reigned for 57 years.

Under Vseslav Bryachislavich, the Principality of Polotsk reached its highest levels of prosperity: neither before him nor after him was it as great and strong as in his time. The strength and strength of the principality increased especially since it was in the hands of one prince. The rise of Polotsk is entirely due to the mind and energy of Vseslav. After him, the Principality of Polotsk begins to fall. It is divided into many small independent units, which often argue with each other. The first beginning of the appanage order in Polotsk was laid by Vseslav himself, dividing the entire principality between his 6 sons.
